    Sophia Mortensen

    A Virginia native, mezzo-soprano Sophia Mortensen graduated from the College of William & Mary, where she performed with the Opera Workshop, performing scenes and arias for characters including Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, and the title role in Carmen. She sang the role of Prince Orlofsky in the William & Mary Orchestra’s concert of scenes from Die Fledermaus and was a featured soloist with the Wind Ensemble.  Since relocating to New Jersey, she has sung with the Savannah Voice Festival, appeared as the alto soloist in excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah,” and can be heard regularly as a cantor at The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in New Jersey.
