    Padraic Costello is a New York City-based countertenor, active as both a professional chorister and soloist.  Receiving graduate degrees in both performance and ethnomusicology from the University of Hawaii, Costello is currently a member of the Men and Boys Choir at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City; and a frequent guest artist with Early Music Hawaii. Recent engagements include performances with Sydney-based ensemble The Song Company during the Canberra International Music Festival in Australia; and performances as Oberon in Benjamin Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream for Hawaii Opera Theater’s opera gala.  Other recent opera roles include Goffredo in Handel’s Rinaldo; and Ottone in Handel’s Agrippina, both with Opera NEO in San Diego. Costello is also a researcher, performer, and advocator of East Asian and Southeast Asian music and opera. Costello will perform the roles of Pane and La Natura in La Calisto with dell’Arte Opera Ensemble this season.
