Soprano Ileana Santamaria has flourished in the three years since her transition from Latin music to classical opera and oratorio repertoire. Ileana’s October 2015 performance of Verdi and Puccini arias in the Vermont Philharmonic’s Annual Opera Gala was hailed for its “lyrical expressiveness”, “brilliance” and “barely contained intensity and passion that went straight to the heart” (Jim Lowe, The Barre Montpelier Times Argus). She was featured as soloist in recent performances of Duruflé’s Requiem with the Greenwich Village Chamber Singers and Beethoven’s Mass in C with the Choral Society of the Hamptons. A soloist in the Calvary-St. George’s Church choir under the direction of Kamel Boutros, Ileana studies with Patricia Sheridan in New York City. Ileana wishes to thank Maestro Christopher Fecteau, Artistic Director Karen Rich and the entire dell’Arte Opera Ensemble family for the invaluable opportunity to train, grow and perform under the tutelage of extraordinary professionals dedicated to operatic craft.
