Emily Hughes’ past operatic roles include Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Connecticut Lyric Opera, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at Brooklyn College, and Messaggera in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at DePaul Opera Theatre. Last July, she played Summer in the first staged reading of “Super! A Musical Parody” at N.E.W. Musicals in Manhattan. She has premiered concert works by Parker Gaims, Peter Kramer, and Nicolas Namoradze. In addition to her experience working on new compositions, Emily has a great interest in performing early music. She has sung with the New York Continuo Collective and has participated in the Baroque Academy at Amherst Early Music Festival the past two summers. Emily received her Bachelors of Music from DePaul University in Chicago and graduated this year with a Masters of Music from the Conservatory of Music of Brooklyn College. She is a student of Mark Schnaible.
