Sophie Delphis

    Mezzo-soprano Sophie Delphis’ roles include Giunone in La Calisto, Dinah in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Elle in Poulenc’s La voix humaine, Concepción in Ravel’s L’heure espagnol, Cenerentola in La Cenerentola, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. She has been involved in several new pieces, most recently creating the role of Marla Maples in Matti Kovler’s The Drumpf and the Rhinegold and the Witch in the English-language premiere of Ami and Tami, by the same composer. In addition to opera repertoire, she can be heard in cabaret and new theatre works at venues such as National Sawdust, Duplex and La MaMa. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and the University of Michigan, she currently resides in New York City, where she is a student of Claudia Catania. She is a soloist on the Grammy-nominated Naxos recording of Milhaud’s Oresteia trilogy.
